SURFACE RESPONSE METHODOLOGY FOR PREDICTING THE OUTPUT RESPONSES OF TIG WELDING PROCESS

ABSTRACT
Tungsten inert gas welding (TIG) is one of the most important material joining processes widely used in industry. Stainless steel plates are mainly used in the fabrication of pressure vessels and other components. An attempt has been made in paper to develop an appropriate model for predicting the output responses of TIG welding. Surface Response Methodology has been developed to study the effects of input variable (i.e. current, voltage, travel speed) on output responses (i.e. reinforcement height, weld bead width, metal deposition rate). When the experiment is completed then the desired inputs are given to the model and it gives the estimated output value. Conformation test have also estimated the error between the actual and predicted results.

ABSTRACT
The present study Attempt has also been made to study experimentally the hydrodynamic behaviour of the TPIFB (three phase inverse fluidized bed) by varying different system parameters (viz. air flow rate, water flow rate, and static bed height and orifice diameter on the distributor plate). The effects of different parameters viz. height of the bed (H), static bed height (hs),orifice size of distributor (D0), gas flow rate (Fw), liquid flow rate (Fa) on pressure drop and void fraction were correlated on the basis of both the dimensional analysis and statistical analysis methods.
